What I liked

I liked the work I did. It was different than what I learn in classes and it kind of bridged the gap a little between what we are taught, and how they are applied in real world situations

What I wish was different

I wish I had started earlier. Mixed communication caused this to happen.

Advice

One piece of advice I would share is to be open to doing any task given. Sometimes I had tasks that were sort of not along the lines of what I expected, but it helped me to refine some skills I had learned a while back, before college, that I had not used, or think I would need to use.

What I liked

I really enjoyed the curriculum that was created for summer school. It was interesting and culturally engaging. It sparked some complex discussions and encouraged students to have a voice.

What I wish was different

What I wish had been different is the attendance policy. It was not a strict as it was originally designed to be.

Advice

This job can be difficult because it is summer and some students really don't want to be there. If they are there they have failed before. However, for some students it is a safe environment that they might not get elsewhere. With the right motivation you as the teacher can encourage students to try their best and really be a coach in their path.
