The environment of the workplace, the work we were assigned
What I wish was different
The flexibility of continuing the internship while at school
Advice
Get to know as many people as possible! Hear their stories and their motivations for joining the Bureau. That is what I found most valuable during my time in the office.

FBI intern
June 2019 • Little Rock, AR
What I liked
Unlike working at the national headquarters, I worked in the Little Rock field office. Meaning, i worked as an actual employee, for the violent crimes unit. Everything I am working on even now is confidential or secret, meaning it cannot be disclosed, nor can I say who my co-workers are.
What I wish was different
Nothing
Advice
It is extremely difficult to get into this position, so if you do manage to get the job, you have to perform every single day to show how thankful you are to have been given the position.

Honors Intern
June 2017 • Mobile, AL
What I liked
I loved everything about it. Everyone was extremely helpful, and willing to share information or experiences so that we could learn more. I loved how the work environment felt like a very close-knit community. Everyone was very welcoming which made it easier to ease into the work and ask questions.
What I wish was different
I wouldn't change anything about my experience.
Advice
Always go above and beyond. Don't just wait for someone to tell you to start a task, but go around asking everyone what you can help out with. People notice the initiative, and it will benefit you when a review board is determining whether they want to recommend you to stay with the program or a recommend you for a job offer.

Intern
June - August 2016 • Washington, DC
What I liked
I liked that it was a very unique opportunity to see the inner workings of an organization that has a huge impact on our country.
What I wish was different
I wish I would have gotten to work on multiple assignments instead of just one long term one that was a little bit dry. However, experiences in terms of assignments varied a lot by what unit you were in. In addition, it takes some time to get computer access and so the internship is slow at the start.
Advice
Ask people outside of your supervisor if you can go to meetings with them - meetings are usually quite interesting.

What I wish was different
Having a more flexible schedule, especially since it is to Washington D.C so the commute is very long.
Advice
Make the most out of your experience. Network with people that are outside of your division to see the opportunities that the FBI offers. The FBI is on a hiring spree for young talent.
