2025 Spring/Summer Internship

POSTING: 2025 SPRING/SUMMER INTERNSHIP

An internship opportunity at Committee Films, Inc., a non-fiction television production company in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, will immerse students in the fast-paced world of producing unscripted programming for television networks. Specifically, the 2025 spring/summer internship opportunity at Committee is geared toward students with an interest in true crime programming and general television series development across a variety of genres. The ideal candidate is majoring in journalism (broadcast or print), video production, English, philosophy, or library sciences. However, students in any major will be considered.  The applicant should be excited to explore questions of media ethics, be unmatched in his or her attention to detail and be able to participate in an internship in person in the Twin Cities with some chance to also work remotely at the start of the internship.  At the summation of the internship, participating students will be asked to present a short essay answering the question, “What is the value of true crime programming?” Interns must cite examples of things they have learned as part of the program in their piece.

This internship will begin May 1st and last through July 31st.

This is a non-traditional time period for a college internship; however, it is designed to coincide with the post-production of two projects for ABC News Studios and Hulu in the true crime space.  Because of the nature of this timing, students may be able to work remotely until their current college semester or quarter ends.

This unpaid internship requires you to work 16 – 24 hours a week with a schedule to be determined. There may be occasions when opportunities (i.e., TV shoots) arise outside of the intern’s schedule. These additional opportunities are optional and could cause an intern to put in more hours in a week than their regularly scheduled time.

Experiences students will be exposed to or play a hands-on role in include research, transcription, filming, script writing and revision, sourcing/fact-checking, asset procurement and management, rights and clearances, creative development, including television pitch writing, and more.  While in the office, students may also be asked to assist with general administrative and production management tasks. Students will also gain exposure to various networks via remote cut reviews, project pitch calls, and more.

Please review the Committee Films website (www.committeefilms.com) for examples of our work. Some recent past projects include Hulu’s ME HEREAFTER true crime series, the CW’s HOSTAGE RESCUE, and History Channel’s I WAS THERE.

Interested candidates should send a resume and cover letter with the subject line “Internship” to info@committeefilms.com. All applications must be received by April 18th, 2025. Please include the following information in the body of the email:

● University where student will earn credit
