
Housing Navigator Case Manager Intern - Pillars (SEJ Program)
SUMMARY:
From homelessness to coming home, Pillars provides shelter, support, and solutions to address the housing needs in our community. The Housing Navigator Case Manager works closely with prospective property owners and managers to promote permanent housing opportunities for homeless individuals and families.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Laundry
- Make lunches for the following day
- Prep & dump mop buckets
- Clean client property bins
- Clean coffee cart-prep for the following day
- Make up dinner trays
- Put away donations
- Clean-up kitchen area and wash dishes
- Assist in client tasks (opening lockers, cleaning bunks, filling voucher requests, prepping and serving dinner, checking bags, supplying clients with basic needs)
- Connecting clients to outside resources if and when eligible & able
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Enrollment and engagement in post-high school education
- Minimum 2 years relevant experience preferred
- Relevant experience could include:
o A strong understanding of barriers specific to persons experiencing homelessness
- Experience working with survivors of domestic violence
o Experience working with people facing mental health struggles and/or challenges with addictions
o Knowledge of community resources available to families who are low income and/or experiencing homelessness
- Experience with the Wisconsin Homeless Management Information System, Clarity
· Ability to travel locally, with access to a reliable vehicle and possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and automobile license

In addition, this position requires strong oral, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills, demonstrated integrity, and the willingness to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. This position requires knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and related technologies.
COMPLIANCE ACCOUNTABILITIES: The Housing Navigator Case Manager Intern must act in accordance with Pillars’ policies and procedures, complete all required compliance training/continuing education within specified timeframe, and maintain a thorough knowledge of all internal operating procedures, as well as applicable laws and regulations.

This internship is part of the Lawrence University Social & Environmental Justice Cohort, which provides an opportunity for Lawrentians to explore social and environmental justice impact careers, gain professional experience, and develop as leaders. Students complete a full-time summer 2025 internship with an identified social and/or environmental justice impact organization in Milwaukee or Appleton, while participating in ongoing reflection with fellow students, Professor Jason Brozek, the Career Center, community leaders and alumni.
