MilWALKee Walks Internship - Wisconsin Bike Federation (SEJ Program)

Safe and Sustainable Streets Internship with Wisconsin Bike Fed & MilWALKee Walks

The City of Milwaukee faces a growing pedestrian safety crisis; people walking are hit and killed by drivers in increasing numbers. The pedestrian safety crisis disproportionately impacts Milwaukee neighborhoods of color. The City of Milwaukee has adopted a Complete Streets resolution, as well as Vision Zero resolution to eliminate all traffic fatalities. It is a critical time to be involved in the movement to make streets safer for vulnerable road users who walk and use mobility devices.

The Wisconsin Bike Fed seeks an intern to support the day-to-day operations of the MilWALKee Walks program during summer 2024. This program is focused on improving pedestrian safety in Milwaukee County through education and outreach. Additionally, this position will provide some support to the Wisconsin Bike Fed’s other programs, such as assisting during events like Ride Across Wisconsin, Wisconsin Bike Week, and youth programming.
