Research Soil Scientist/Agricultural Engineer/Physical Scientist (Research Associate)
USDA Agricultural Research Service is currently recruiting for a Research Soil Scientist/Agricultural Engineer/Physical Scientist (Research Associate) at Soil Drainage Research Unit : USDA ARS in Columbus, OH.


Duties: 

  • Lead data mining and assessment research activities to quantify the water quality impacts of conservation and crop production practices.
  • Contribute to and lead aspects of field investigations and data analysis involving the exchange of water, carbon dioxide, and/or greenhouse gases at the soil, vegetation, and atmospheric interface.
  • Organize and publish research results in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Collaborate and provide support to other Unit research activities.
  • Participate in working groups, conference calls, and annual meetings.


Experience: Based on grade level, one year of specialized experience which is directly related to the work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicants with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position or possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or possess an equivalent combination of graduate level education and experience. 
OR
Education: Soil science or a closely related discipline that included 30 semester hours or equivalent in biological, physical, or earth science, with a minimum of 15 semester hours in such subjects as soil genesis, pedology, soil chemistry, soil physics, engineering, mathematics, and soil fertility.
OR
A combination of education and experience as described above.
