Philanthropy & Communications Intern

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the YMCA of the Rockies, Estes Park Center, which operates a mission-based family and group conference and retreat center, serving more than 150,000 guests annually. The Philanthropy Events and Communication Intern is primarily responsible planning and working donor events, implementing recognition and stewardship efforts, data entry, donor visit and communicating with members. The Intern will also help with donor communication efforts, such has story gathering, newsletter writing, grant reports and case enhancements.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Work with the Philanthropy Team to promote giving opportunities to guests, members and staff.
  • Organize and attend member gatherings, open houses and special events as appropriate.
  • Meet and greet guests, members and donors to build relationships by dropping off cookies, thank you letter etc. 
  • Assist with the collection and distribution of stories emphasizing the impact of Estes Park Center.
  • Assist the Philanthropy and Marketing teams as needed during guest and member video shoots that will highlight our mission Impact to donors and members.
  • Provide general administrative support for the Philanthropy Team, including filing, data entry and meeting minute taking.
  • Help distribute philanthropy communication around property; by hanging posters and delivering pamphlets, etc.
  • Attend staff events with a goal to collect staff impact stories from our seasonal and volunteer staff. 
  • Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality concerning all professional matter, especially donor communications and private information.

 

             REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Seeking a degree in the hospitality industry, non-profit management or other related fields.
  • Possess a valid, USA state-issued driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and comply with YMCA driving rules to be approved to operate YMCA vehicles. 
  • Must be able to converse, read, write and type in English
  • Must possess adequate computer skills. 
  • Bi-Lingual skills preferred.
