Field Operations Intern

Seminole Sports, the premier provider of youth baseball and softball events, is seeking dedicated individuals for the position of Field Operations Intern. Seminole Sports operates approximately 80 tournaments during our summer season. We are looking for qualified individuals to join our team as a Field Operations Intern for the 2024 tournament season. This individual will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of events at the various field locations in Northern Illinois and Wisconsin. This summer internship program runs from mid-May to the first week in August.  Tournaments are Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Field Operations interns will report directly to the Tournament Director. Students majoring in Sports Management, Sports Marketing, and Sports Recreation and Tourism are preferred candidates.

Qualifications

• Ability to take direction and successfully complete assigned tasks

• Self-motivated, well-organized, with great attention to detail

• Ability to make decisions and problem-solve in high-pressure situations

• Strong multitasking abilities

• Excellent communication skills

• Preferred solid understanding of baseball and softball fundamentals 

Responsibilities

• Establish a relationship and interface directly with all park district ground crews

• Help to ensure the smooth operation of events at the field location

• Confirm field readiness, ensuring the presence of umpires, and teams are on the correct diamonds

• Punctuality is key, and you will be entrusted to ensure all games commence on time

• Confirm the readiness of both teams to start play at the designated time

• Present yourself in a professional manner with umpires, parents, players, and coaches

College credit is available to eligible students who get approval from a professor or school career counselor. Summer stipend up to $2000 predicated on hours worked.
