Bjorklunden Student Weekend Assistant (2023-24 Academic Year)
POSITION DESCRIPTION
This position reports to Kim Eckstein, Björklunden Operations Manager. Dedicated, responsible and hardworking individuals are needed to assist in Björklunden's kitchen and perform other duties as needed for the weekend Student Program. Food and lodging at Björklunden included. Food service experience is a plus.
DUTIES
· Assist with onsite aspects of the LU Student Weekend Programs.
· Prepare and serve food.
· Wash dishes and clean the kitchen
· Perform housekeeping tasks, such as vacuuming, mopping, and restroom cleaning.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
HOURS
· Weekend staff generally works between 14 and 16 hours per weekend.
· Students sign up for the weekends they are available to work. You are not expected to work every weekend.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Must understand and appreciate the value of a liberal arts education.
· Knowledge of housekeeping and food preparation duties and standards helpful but not necessary.
· Experience in food service industry helpful but not necessary.
· Must stay on-site at Björklunden in housing provided by Lawrence University.
· Must travel to and from Björklunden via transportation provided by Lawrence University. Vans leave campus at 6pm on Friday and return on Sunday at 5pm.
SKILLS AQUIRED
· In this position student employees learn to work with others, follow directions, be flexible, have a basic knowledge of food preparation and gain experience in many aspects of the food service industry.
