Mining Engineer Co-Op Student - Connellsville, PA

Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Mining Engineer Co-Op Student to join our team in Connellsville, PA for a 6 - 8 month co-op opportunity beginning in summer 2023 or Fall 2023.

The COOP Program position is in Connellsville, PA and will report to the Operations Manager.
 
What You Will Get To Do:
 
Support the plant operations in achieving production goals while partnering with experienced engineers, managers, and production employees in different departments throughout the Fall.

  • Learn the operational aspects of the production, maintenance, and quality departments and different jobs and functions
  • Complete projects to gain an understanding of the operations of a quarry and the industry, as well as drive efficiency improvements within the production process
  • Participate in a program to provide students with work experience that is relevant to their major and complements their education
  • Assist in various projects such as fleet management, production balance, or mix design formulation.
  • Commitment and engagement through high level of work ethic and utilization of abilities for the best of the company
  • Projects vary in scope and size and by the end of the program, you will have had the opportunity to work with some of our industry’s best and brightest managers
  • Assignments will involve learning all aspects of managing a quarry, ready-mix plant, or sand & gravel operation, including Mine Planning, Operations optimization, Quality Control, Maintenance, Safety, and more
  • Opportunities will include evaluating the production equipment and mine layout
  • Ensures compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as company policies and procedures

What We Are Looking For:
  • Current sophomores, juniors, and seniors working toward a degree in Mining, Civil, Mechanical Engineering or Business Management.
  • Students available for a 4, 6 or 8 month co-op starting in Summer or Fall of 2023.
  • Tuition Reimbursement Program
  • Someone who has an appreciation for the value of “boots on the ground” practical experience.
