Instructional Media Center (IMC)/Building Technology Support Educational Assistant at Pigeon River and Etude Elementary School

INSTRUCTIONAL MEDIA CENTER (IMC)/BUILDING TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT

PIGEON RIVER AND ETUDE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1.    Minimum of two years of college (48 college credits), an associate degree, or successful completion of the SASD Assessments.
2.    Experience using technology including a working knowledge of current software applications such as Microsoft Office, Gmail, or Google Apps for Education.
3.    Experience working with children.
4.    Have a basic understanding of the working and organization of a library.
5.    Able to operate the library’s Destiny computerized catalog/circulation system, including circulation, inventory, report, and book search features.
6.    Excellent problem-solving skills and a willingness to independently learn and acquire new skills.
7.    Effective verbal and written communication skills.
8.    Excellent interpersonal skills to work with both students and adults.
9.    Able to manage and balance time and responsibilities between multiple assignments.
10. Able to provide assistance with and troubleshoot current building technology, including a wide variety of device types.
11. Able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
12. Able to read aloud with fluency and expression.
13. Respects and enjoys working with diverse groups of children.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS:
This position will involve 8.0 hours per day, Monday through Friday during the school year. The starting rate for this position is $13.90 per hour.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain a welcoming environment for study, research, and reading. Help promote literacy, such as providing book suggestions, creating and maintaining displays, and assisting with special events. Communicate regularly with other media staff. Accomplish assigned tasks in a timely manner. Participate in technology training throughout the school year. Help provide support for the 1:1 device program. Shelve books in the appropriate location using the library’s organizational system. Supervise students in the library setting. Assist students and staff in locating library resources. Circulate materials according to library policies set by the media specialist (number of materials, overdues, etc.) including checking materials in and out and checking incoming materials for damage. Conduct annual inventory of items in the library catalog. Repair damaged library materials. Assist media specialist in processing library and technology items. Assist media specialist in weeding and discarding library items. Support library initiatives and programs. Provide support for the building during computerized or online assessments. Provide supervision in the cafeteria during lunch periods. Carry out other duties as assigned by Library Media Specialist, Instructional Technology Coordinator, Supervisor of Computer Support/Electronics, and the Principal.
