Health Promotion Program Manager

Full Time Health Promotion Program Manager
Starting Annual Salary: $49,765/year
Position Schedule: Monday through Friday 8a-430p with occasional evening/weekend hours
 
Position Summary
The McLean County Health Department is recruiting for a Health Promotion Program Manager. This is an exempt position that provides leadership to the Health Promotion staff. The Health Promotion Program Manager plans, develops, directs and evaluates the health education/promotion programs to promote the physical, mental, and social health of county residents and employees. In addition, this position provides support and leadership associated with the Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) and managing the provision of grant funded projects.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plans, directs and coordinates the work of the health promotion program
  • Prepares grant proposals
  • Manages grant-funded projects
  • Conducts research on health education programs
  • Coordinates community health fairs and presentations, educational presentations and coordination of the McLean County employee benefit health fair and wellness program
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of community health education and applied health research procedures and statistics
  • Ability to analyze information and public health data
  • Knowledge of psychological and sociological concepts governing individual and group behavior
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Requires knowledge of supervision principles and practices
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, department employees, community organizations and the general public
  • Ability to prepare attractive and informative educational materials
 
Required Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree in community health education or a closely related field
  • 4-6 years’ experience in developing and implementing health education programs
  • OR any equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the above knowledge, skills, and abilities
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with websites and visual content
  • Ability to maintain social media campaigns
  • Ability to effectively work with and understand people of different ages, races, and social economic circumstances
  • Master’s degree in Community Health Education or a closely related field
 
Physical Attributes/Demands
This position requires activities such as sitting, standing, walking, bending, climbing stairs, lifting, moving and carrying light objects, operating office equipment, and driving an automobile.
 
Work Environment
The work is generally performed in an office environment and involves exposure to normal, everyday risks which require normal safety precautions typical of offices. Work performed outside while driving an automobile involves exposure to a variety of weather and traffic.
