Emergency Preparedness Planner (Planner 2) - Requisition Number: 1800052B

  • THIS POSITION FALLS WITHIN THE UNCLASSIFIED CIVIL SERVICE STATUS. EMPLOYEES IN THE UNCLASSIFIED CIVIL SERVICE OF THE STATE OF OHIO SERVE AT THE PLEASURE OF THE APPOINTING AUTHORITY AND MAY BE REMOVED FROM THEIR UNCLASSIFIED POSITION AT ANY TIME FOR ANY LEGAL REASON.

Under supervisor’s direction, acts as project coordinator to plan, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate assigned statewide preparedness programs and projects. Conducts planning and assessment activities for Ohio Department of Health (ODH) programs and other federal, state, regional and local community partners (e.g., sub-grantees, community healthcare systems, healthcare organizations, private agencies, federal, state, regional and local organizations) to enhance public health and medical emergency and disaster preparedness (e.g., needs assessments of regional healthcare systems, development of planning guidance and emergency response plans, fatality management plans and exercises). Serves as planner for ODH’s Department Operations Center (DOC), public health and healthcare preparedness capabilities (e.g., creates and updates operations and logistics plans, manages available resources, researches federal requirements to assure compliance, researches and recommends best practices, interfaces with public health, emergency management and healthcare organizations to resolve inquiries or provide technical assistance). Collaborates with other offices/bureaus throughout the agency regarding development and maintenance of public health and health care exercises. Coordinates the maintenance and operation of the ODH DOC (e.g., maintains facility operational procedures and trains staff on their use, works with contractors and ODH management information systems staff to assure electronic hardware is updated and functional). Provides research to the lead Planner, technical assistance to hospitals, local health departments, and offices/bureaus within ODH regarding all hazards planning (e.g., response to emergencies [e.g., chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, environmental] in Ohio). Maintains readiness of ESF 8 desk at the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) and staffs during emergencies as necessary.
