Assistant Director of Campus Life for Housing & Residential Living

REPORTS TO:          Associate Dean of Students for Campus Life
 
LOCATION:            Campus Life Office, Warch Campus Center
 
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
Provide management and oversight for housing and residential living processes. Additionally, provide administrative support for the Associate Dean for Campus Life and the Campus Life Office.

DUTIES:

  • Work with students and parents to answer specific housing questions and concerns, as well as general Campus Life office inquiries
  • Identify housing trends in residential living and work to incorporate best practices
  • Manage housing assignments and related processes for all constituencies
  • Serve as ex-officio member of LUCC Residence Life Committee to develop student housing policies within the context of the university’s goals
  • Maintain and provide housing charts, reports, and other related housing documents
  • Coordinate summer housing
  • Update and maintain student meal plan data
  • Train Residence Hall Director staff on computer reporting process and report acquisition
  • Track and provide key card access to student residential spaces
 
 

SHARED DUTIES:

  • Manage general correspondence/documents/publications including Campus Life webpages, letters, memos, mailing lists, handbooks.
  • Schedule meetings and appointments for staff.
  • Reserve rooms as needed for Campus Life events and meetings.
  • Answer and direct incoming calls to appropriate parties. Answer questions pertaining to various campus life programs. Serve as general referral agent for office. 
  • Order office and craft supplies for Campus Life Office and general student use, as well as various groups and organizations.
  • Coordinate servicing and upkeep of office equipment.
  • Hire, train, and supervise student staff to include scheduling hours; plan work priorities; assign and check work; submit time sheets; provide training and feedback on performance.
 
 

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Will exist with all members of the Lawrence community in order to work collaboratively with students, their families when appropriate, staff and faculty. Assistant Director positions will be required to be cross-trained on Campus Life office functions and responsibilities.
 
 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

 
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or Associates Degree with 3 to 5 years of related experience.
  • General understanding and appreciation for a student development-based approach.
  • Excellent collaboration skills coupled with the ability to work autonomously or as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate interest in and actively support initiatives that promote a more inclusive Lawrence community.
  • Strong clerical skills with an appreciation for accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Sensitivity for confidentiality of materials/information processed.
