Position Summary
The Social & Environmental Justice Intern will support Girl Scouts’ community engagement, outreach, and program development efforts to expand access and visibility in our community. Working closely with the council’s Community Engagement and Brand & Communications teams, the intern will help introduce girls and their families to the Girl Scout experience through recruitment events, partnership development, and support for pilot programs.
This internship is ideal for SEJ students interested in community organizing, youth development, gender equity, or nonprofit leadership.
Responsibilities may include
- Assisting with community outreach and recruitment activities designed to introduce girls and families to Girl Scouts
- Supporting communications efforts such as social media, photography, or videography
- Supporting staff at local or regional events (tabling or hands-on activities)
- Delivering informational materials to schools, libraries, and community organizations
- Helping identify and engage potential community partners aligned with the Girl Scout mission and values.
- Supporting the development of pilot programs aimed at increasing visibility and participation.
- Providing general support to staff across multiple departments

Additional Information
- Flexible schedule, including occasional evening or weekend events
- Combination of office, remote, and on-site community work

Compensation:
This internship is part of the Lawrence University Social & Environmental Justice Cohort, which provides an opportunity for Lawrentians to explore social and environmental justice impact careers, gain professional experience, and develop as leaders. Students complete a full-time summer 2026 internship with an identified social and/or environmental justice impact organization in Milwaukee or Appleton, while participating in ongoing reflection with fellow students, Professor Jason Brozek, the Career Center, community leaders and alumni. Students may apply for as many positions as they are qualified for and interested in. Each student in the SEJ program will receive a $5k stipend to help cover housing and transportation costs and living expenses.
